New gun comes home!
My new semi-custom came home today. I want to say a big thanks to Bob at Custom Gunworx. I brought him an old ADL and he went to town.
I decided on a .264 Win Mag. No good reason other than I am a fan of the 6.5 and have never had one. That and not a whole bunch of other folks have one.
Bob spun on a new 26", stainless, #6 contour barrel. It has a 1 in 8 gain twist that is now fluted and has a bead blasted finish. It is accurized and bedded into a Boyd's Prairie Hunter laminate stock. The trigger has been reworked to break crisp and clean at a consistent 2lb 10oz.
I put a Zeiss 4.5-14x44 Conquest with the Rapid Z800 on top and used Leupold rings and bases. I will install Near Mfg stuff on it at a later date. Obviously this was never intended to be a lightweight rig. Bare it weighs in at 8lb 5oz. Scoped it comes in at 9lb 13oz.
Pictures to follow as for some reason Photobucket and I aren't getting along right now.

I really like the look of those colors combined. The stock is really nice to handle as well. Maybe we can hit K-country and you can try it out for yourself. I think I am off Tuesday and Thursday next week.

Thanks Rich. Here's to hoping it isn't a real barrel burner. I am going to try to be careful and do all I can to prevent that.

Looks nice! I've killed a ton of game with the .264 Mag. It's a real performer. Hope she shoots well for you.

Barrel life is the only thing that stopped me from the 264 on my first 6.5 build and my next 6.5 build won't be it either! I think if you have a moderate shooting habit you'll be fine for a long time. I know Me and I have to stay away from the burners!

That is a fine looking rig indeed! I love the look of that 'driftwood' laminate (I've got a couple with that color laminate too), stainless, and black rings...nice combination, and I'm sure it's going to be a fine shooter too.

You'd have to double check with Bob but I think his name is Jury. Newer fella from what I hear but I guess a few folks are using his barrels now with some good results.
