Default skunks

Whats the best way to get them?
I heard live trap then gas them (gas them with what I'm not sure)
Where could I get a good live trap?

My dogs got it twice in a week!

You could make your own live trap. My dad used to use a 45 gal drum with the top cut out but I'm sure even a large plastic garbage container would do. He would dig out a hole, in the dirt, on the back side of the barrel, doesn't have to be a deep hole, then lay the barrel flat on the ground with a 3-4" pc of wood as a pivot point under it, with the sides stabilized so it wouldn't roll sideways and some bait in the barrel. When the skunk would enter for the bait, the barrel would overcenter and voila, you have your skunk. You might want to experiment in the postioning of the sticks, etc., to see how it tips when the animal enters. They will not spray in the container so just cover the top and you could relocate it if you like. Keep in mind, there are probably a family of them in the neighborhood so you will not be getting them all the first time.. Then again, maybe your dog is finding them away from your place so where you set up is a guessing game.. Rottsa Ruck...

There is a hole in the top where you stick a hose in thats attached to the tail pipe on your vehicale . I used to just open the trap from behind and run back a ways and shoot it with a shotgun after it got away from the box.

Halford hide has lot's of traps. I have bought a bit of stuff from them. No complaints. Shipping seemed kinda steep though.

I managed 3 this week in town , picked up a live trap from CANADIAN TIRE for about $ 50. first two I used peanut butter on bread for bait ,for the last one I used about a 1/4 bananna . When I get one I cover the trap with a large black bag , then its ready for relocation or disposal, I prefer the rain barrel HAPPY TRAPIN

My dog has killed 2 in the last couple weeks and one got run over just down the road. We have a trap set but only caught our barn cat.

If you use a trap just be sure its not to big. A box trap a little bigger than their body is best as you dont want them to be able to lift their tail up. They wont spray if they dont lift their tail. We have trapped lots over the years and just take them way out in the bush away from civalization and turn them loose.

usually the town or municipality charges more then what a live trap is worth.
i bought a live trap at peavy mart for i think $40. then build a wooded shell to set it into with a cover that slipped over the front. so it can be totally enclosed. then you can move it around when you close the front in cause its dark in there and the skunk wont P.
then peice of 2 1/2 inch water suction line that fits nicely into the tailpipe of my pickup and the hole i drilled in the front of the wooded door of the box my trap is in.
takes about 10mins, depending on how 'clean burn' your vehicle is.
you will catch cats, skunks, or even a small dogs. its like christmas every morning, you will be suprised at what you catch.
you can also get the cheap cat food at the dollar store, but dog food works awesome as well.
but of course use your decretion as to what you want to dispose of and what you want to set free, (with a turpentine rash)
good luck.
