Default Why am I scrambling last minute?

I shoot all year, and I’m always changing something or am behind the eight ball it seems.

Final prep before season. I confirmed at 100 yards (shot this target upside down). Then I went to 250 to confirm zero and worked incrementally out to 600 yards to confirm drops. Once happy with the load I loaded enough to get me through the season.

I am too lazy to change loads, once I have my hunting load, I usually shoot that load for many years. If I get caught developing loads in fall, it's because I bought a new rifle, or I am helping a friend that bought a new rifle.

Big game is not a big issue for me, I don't normally change stuff that much, but for upland and waterfowl , I am forever switching up loads!
Although I have hundreds of hunting rounds made in both BP ans smokeless, these are special ones.Going to do some 2 3/4" 20's today as well.
Four more days and Louie will once again be in the field chasing long tails!

I think many of us do that, have something dialed in, BUT, I should just try one more load with bullet "X". Did it one year with a rifle scope, changed it out at the last minute after having an entire year to do it. Still don't know why I did that.

I notice that the group isn't that great, seems a bit high and to the right and the bolt on your rifle is for a lefty, I would gladly take that faulty rifle off your hands..............

You might be scrambling but your rifle looks ready to go.
