Default Free Outdoor Archery Near Calgary?

I am getting really interested in archery again. Is there a free outdoor range near Calgary? I like the indoor places like Archery World in Calgary but I want to do alot of shooting for a couple of weeks and I wish I didn't have to spend $50/day for the two of us. Does anybody know about any place?
Thanks

Default Find an undeveloped road allowance... outside city limits

Have at er... or ask a farmer/landowner

Buy a decent target

Buy a membership, save a little coin while still supporting the local scene.
If not you're going to spend the difference in gas to drive to crown land and buying a nice target.

There’s a range at the AHEIA shotgun range near Dewinton. Free for members.

Default Big Horn

There is a nice range run by Big Horn Archers on the 2A north of Calgary near Carstairs.Pretty sure membership is very inexpensive.

Sorry for the late reply; I missed the notification somehow. I think I like the sounds of driving out of the city limits and using a ditch on a back road.
The rest of the leads sound great too.
Thanks y'all!

FYI... Target shooting with your bow falls under the same rules as target shooting with firearms when it comes to shooting them in areas like McLean and other areas that you must be 1 km from the road.

Thanks for that info.
Life has me feeling constricted in nearly every aspect. When I was growing up there was freedom to do so many things. I'm closer to the end of my life now by far, than the beginning. The way I feel sometimes now is excitement to move on to the other side. Everything is so politically cramped. There are so many laws and bylaws, it's a wonder farting isn't illegal. There is my rant.
Thanks for the feedback y'all.

Tinker, if you showed an area of the city you live in (NW, NE, etc) then locals may point you to undeveloped, unused GRA that would be much safer than ditch shooting. I have an undeveloped, unused GRA within 15 minutes of me that I go to that allows me to practice in quiet without disturbing anyone and there is no chance that I'm going to have a mishap and hurt anyone or damage any property....

That's great jcrayford. Thanks for that.
I'm in Bowness, NW. Does anybody know a good spot west, or anywhere? Do you use a straw bale or... what's a good cheap portable target?

^I bought a Rinehart 18-1 cube about 1998. Still shooting that same cube, has ate everything from BH to target points and keeps going. 18 diffferent faces to shoot at, I'm going to guess that I'll retire before it does.

I head North of Citadel a ways. google maps could give good indications as to the undeveloped GRAs, then check them out.
