Default Charles Adler a liberal now?

https://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/criticis...ster-1.7007080

Remember him from the radio years ago? I used to like this guy. Haven’t heard him in decades. Now I find out Trudeau appointed him to the Senate. Treaty people in uproar about comments he made 25 years ago.i think he said something about bonehead to stay on a reserve. Anyway what the heck. So was he pretending to be a normal guy years ago or did something happen to make him change to looney left? Are these guys just actors and go a long with whatever serves them and don't believe in nothing? What happened?

Adler was what you call a “Progressive Conservative” like Joe Clark, Allison Redford etc. much more palatable to the left. Somewhat kindred spirits with Liberals . He didn’t like Harper (that alone gets you high marks with Trudeau.) He doesn’t like Polievre .

He likes the fence so he can jump from side to side whenever the moment strikes, but never really make a stand you can nail him on later. Chameleonish.

We have seen evidence of these types around here even ,at times.

Much like Obama ,his best asset was his booming baritone voice , with little else to go with it .

Charles publicly split with the Conservatives over what he insisted was their drift to the right.

But what dear Charles perceived as a Conservative drift to the right, was really his anchor chain breaking and a dramatic drift to his left. I listened to him in the 90s on CJOB when I lived in Winnipeg, and that Small C Charles is not the current iteration, even remotely. He can not make an honest claim to being conservative or independent today.

His skin got awfully thin too, as evidenced by his penchant for blocking anyone on X who was even gently critical of him. I may have been blocked by him, simply for asking what happened to him. Not a good look for a Senator either.

His appointment as an 'independent' Senator follows the Liberal pattern of making obviously flawed appointments (Julie Payette as GG, David Johnston as Special Rapartour, Laith Marouf and the latest anti Semitic Human Rights Commissioner etc etc), and the vetting is done in the public forum after the fact. Just another Clown for their Circus

I used to casually listen to him on the radio a decade ago.
I decided his opinion depended soley on what would make for better radio.

Apparently, if you are on the radio or read a teleprompter on tv, you are capable of holding high status in Canadian government.

If you are an actor, the US govt is for you.

If you are a Ukrainian, a comedian or a former boxer is the preference. (Wow)

A religious nut? Head to the Middle East.

Heavy handed ideology man? China is your place.

Canada. A soft taco in a hard taco world. We are being eaten without so much as a "crunch" being heard......

Seen a CBC news clip with Adler last night where he was answering questions to his hard stance on abolishing the senate. Now he says he will do his best to change it from within and those harsh words from years ago? people change. As he said, he is out at age 75, so he only gets 5 years to make change. 5 years at the trough more like it.

I used to love listening to him as well but when he went liberal light, that was that for me.

You nailed it. 5 years in the void of non-productive self serving obscene gluttony.

Everyone else
It would have been in 90s last time I heard Adler, gosh that was 30 years ago. Maybe I just remember him wrong. I remember him talking a lot about how great it was for his family to be in Canada, etc but not red tory stuff. Maybe I'm just remember him wrong. He used to be on at night 770 in Calgary. Dave Rutherford in the mornings. Loved Dave Rutherford

Hulk Hogan was a better choice for guest speaker at a national convention. He has more going than his booming baritone voice. Lol. Obama is losing the crowd by not ripping his shirt off.

I’ve listened to Ol Chuck a lot over the years. I guess given the chance to belly up he took it. Adrienne Clark’s on is the one the makes me gag… her dry cleaning bills alone are more than I make.

When there was a market for conservative talk radio, that's what he was.
When the conservative radio hosts stopped having jobs, he decided to not be conservative any more.
The only side he's ever been on is his.

^^^ this

Adler is a self righteous blowhard who caters to his audience. Much like our PM, he's an actor and a showman with little substance or character.
