Default Phoenix pay system

I retired from a long career with the federal government after 35 years. When I leftover a year ago I had annual leave and lieu time owed to me and am still waiting to be paid out. I have made numerous calls to call centre to be told that I was made a high priority I march. I would hate to see what would happen if I was a low priority. I contacted the deputy minister in charge of pay only to be told they realize there is a problem and to be patient. My patience has wore out any suggestion on how I might get this expedited?

Sounds like you've done everything you can, maybe waiting is your only option now...

But this should be a good one. I bet there's some humdinger's in the replies !

Only thing that moves the wheels in Ottawa is to sue in FEDERAL COURT. But make sure to call the Media and do a press conference.

Take along the poorest youngest member of your family, even if you have to borrow someone's kid.

Take the kid to Goodwill and get the worst clothes you can for the kid.

Then get some empty medication bottles as props for your press conference, and say the inability to pay your meds will probably kill you.

The Press loves a good story.

I know a few people that had pay issues who contacted our MLA and their issues seemed to be solved faster than others. Phoenix is busy right now trying to collect on some small over payments people got in 2017 and 2018.

I would contact the Federal Labour Board and file a complaint. That is at least free to do. Not paying out owed time in a timely fashion from point of termination/retirement would certainly violate federal labour standards. Unfortunately, they move about as quickly as your current payment request...unless the violating company isn't the Federal Government. Companies that fall under Federal jurisdiction would be much more likely to be contacted by the Labour Board to fix the issue than the Fed Govt themselves.

Outside of that, it will cost you money to file a civil case unfortunately.

We can trust our government to do the right thing.

I would suggest writing your MP, and the Minister responsible for the agency that you worked for. This would be affecting your pension as well. I suffered 8 years of Phoenix pain, the only place that I ever worked where I had to constantly fight to get my pay.
Good luck and congratulations for getting out alive!

I went right to my MP's office and gave copies of all my communications to get monies owed, I think it helped as I got a follow up call later. The pension part went well as it is not run by Phoenix.
