Default Wiser locks with push button

I have a 4 year old Wiser lock the push button entry unit is now not working, called today to see if there is a replacement for the electronic piece, found out a big NO, only one year replacement, on the electronic piece but 10 year on the non electronic, my old unit screwed into the door above the deadbolt, now how to cover the screw holes for the new deadbolt not Wiser, not happy with them to not offer a replacement unit, just a rant for me, does anybody else have issues like this for there dead bolt lock unit.

Wiser, like a lot of others today sell cheaper lines to the standard hardware stores then there standard dealer network. Sounds typical of a cheaper unit, and why they would not replace anything for it.

See that lots with taps as well. Most of the internal parts are not the same, and therefore fail at a larger rate.

Time to get a standard deadbolt with an "August" type attachment to run the lock if you want to go automated.

I had one from a different brand, but in that case, the mechanical component failed (pot metal).

They sent me a whole new unit, and that was after eight or nine years of use. I was impressed.

I’m having problems with mine right now as well. When you try to lock it, it just spins and eventually catches. But now it’s almost unusable. On my second one now. They seem to last a couple years and that’s it.

Been using Schlage touch pad! Over 10 years now! Just change the 9 volt battery every 5 years or so and good to go! Battery is on the inside of the door! No Worries! Comes in different colour's!

I've got 5 of these. 4 on my house and 1 on a detached garage. They have a limited lifetime warranty. After 5 years 2 of them were malfunctioning and I asked Schlage to replace them. They sent me a video on how to repair them myself with a screwdriver. The fix was simple. Great service.

We have the same lock as in the picture. The 6 button has fallen and the 8 doesn’t always work. I’ll have to contact Schlage to see if they can fix or replace the lock.

We have this one and much prefer the manual turn. It has a 9v battery and it lasts a long time.

The others use a bunch of aa batteries and they go errrr errrr errrr errrr errrr and struggle to open and close.

The one in the picture. You type the code. Then manually turn the deadbolt open and close it. Highly suggest that style.

Yes, in my case, they just needed a picture of the broken pot-metal piece and had a new one shipped shortly thereafter. Then I just needed to get it keyed at the local hardware store (free).

Yup. They are great. Had a locksmith come out for something and he slammed them. Said his were better. Cost 8 times more however.

Weiser used to mean quality at one time, not any more, like a lot of other brands.

I pretty much have the same one as the pic and also been really good over a whole bunch of years, can't remember how long LOL. One thing I might suggest if you get or already have one look at the numbers on the pad. After so many years they start to wear down. Might want to change the code or put at least 3 different codes in. I do realize with a 4 digit code could take a while to crack. That being said look this up "How to Open a Schlage Keyless Touchscreen Deadbolt Lock in Seconds" I was like WT$

I was considering the electronic lock for our house after we moved two years ago. After talking to the locksmith for about 5 minutes- decided against it. Got the Multi-Lock on all entrance doors around the house, all keyed the same, so can be opened with the same key.
Not to derail the thread but security wise the electronic locks are dead to me…

What he didn’t show you. Was they took a drill and drilled into it.

Most crimes are crimes of opportunity.

If your targeted, a lock isn’t going to stop them. They will get through them all or go around the lock.

Years ago I started installing a key pad lock in the deadbolt spot. Then I thought leave the deadbolt and install the keypad lock above it. So now I can use both when I wish

I’ve had several of these, always end up failing for some reason. Going through it again this winter. Enter code, hear the click, and free spins. Won’t engage. It is for a storage shed at a rural property, so looking for something a bit more reliable, as I don’t have a half hour to drive back into town to grab a key, or remember a key every time I may drive by and need something. That being said, they are fantastic when they work, I love the backup key function, but don’t seem to work great in the cold on an unheated shed for me. Any tips from someone with a similar problem? Battery change doesn’t help, and installed correctly, working flawlessly for 9+ months. I’m at a loss on that.

Used weiser, been happy, but prefer the manual lock as well

Get the one you have to turn the dial yourself to open or lock! Not the one that does it for you! My son bought that one and never worked!

I had a whisper on the house, still do works decent. Put one on the shop after I was broke into. It lasted maybe a year. Went back to a standard deadbolt. So much simpler and it works.

I’ve had 4 Wiser locks fail in three years. Absolute junk!
In fact the rest of the locks at the big box stores are junk now. The inner pieces are either white metal or plastic.
Everything’s made in China!

Every time I need to search for a key for the vehicles/house/shed/trailer/bike racks/whatever, I think that my great-grandfather had the exact same problem. And carefully labelling each key on a big key rack mounted by the door. What an archaic way securing items! I wish we had access to a key fob that could be programmed to open all of our locks and run our vehicles, or better still, a little microchip we could have slid under the skin on our wrists that all of our locks could scan to open.

While they're at it, the could store all my health, driver's licence info, and hunting licences on that little micro-chip as well, and save me getting hip dyplasia from carrying that big fat wallet around in my back pocket!

Funny thing my wiser pushbutton lock failed yesterday. I came home and knew I had locked the door but it was unlocked
Looking at the deadbolt it only opened partway
Sprayed the mechanism with silicon and changed the batteries and it quit working altogether.
went to Lowes and looked at new locks and could not find anything under two hundred dollars
I will use a key until I find a really good sale that is not Wiser
Its one of those things you think the lock is working and it is not. I guess that is why you see seniors checking their lock two or three times before they go
It took me awhile to find out when I locked the truck that one back door was not locking,
such is life
