Going to pick up a bow from Jack Kempf tonight. 56" little grizzly 50# @ 28"
Jack is amazing, I have enjoyed our visits over the last few months, having a bowyer like him locally is priceless. I got shooting it unfinished the other day. It is so light, draws smooth, spits an arrow and hits where i want it to. Cant wait to see the finished bow tonight.
Spalted hard maple / Koa riser, maple milled from a tree on the property where I grew up. Koa is from a tree my brother milled in Hawaii. Hard Maple/carbon limbs, antler limb tip overlays and thumb rest from a whitetail antler I found. Everything is mine except the carbon, and Jack highly suggested the carbon. So I listened to jack. And Im very happy!
Well here are some pics of the legend, and a couple of the bow's he made for me. Well one for me and one for my brother. I was going back and forth with Jack deciding what to get built, my brother was looking for a new bow at the time and decided to put some faith in me and ordered a duplicate. I put a couple hundred arrows through it between Thursdays night and today.
I am very happy with the experience. Being able to visit with Jack, the process of picking personal materials for the bow, seeing the progress, and shooting the final product.
Definatly a family heirloom
Lat and long of where maple riser was harvested was written by Jack on the bow and is where i grew up.
