Gunsmith recommendation for Vintage Ithaca Model 37 Feed/Ejection issue

A common problem is a weak lower extractor + spring.I got new parts for mine from Numrich before the covid silliness.Was leaving fired shells in the chamber.Western Gun Parts in Edmonton may have parts.

Often it is not a firearm issue ,it can be an ammo issue . Some of the promo/ cheaper ammo has issues of the brass expanding and sticking in chamber . Scrub and clean chamber and barrel and try a different ammo .

This firearm I purchased in 2006 as part of a group of old shotguns and a old Cooey .22.They have been sitting in the safe since.
All of them were well loved and heavily used by a Buddies Dad who had passed in the late 90's. Workhorses, not show pieces. Buddy is a non hunter so when he asked if I would take them all, I did him a solid and now I am paying the price as all of these have some issues.
My hope for the Ithaca 2 3/4" 12 ga is to get it functional and pass it on at a future date to my new Grandson born this Spring in Fort Mac.
The serial number indicates a date of manufacture of 1954. Because I have only fired this once, I am uncertain of all the issues, but recall it would not feed the new round from the magazine.Also the action release does not so much depress, but more pivots marginally and will release with some fussing. I will cycle some ammo through it today and narrow down the exact issues.
Also looking to get a Win Model 12 2 3/4" 16 ga from 1942 up and running.Pump is locked up.
Hoping to find a Smith well familiar with this generation of firearms and their common issues..

The Ithaca and Winchester are both quality firearms , worth getting working. The model 12 system is designed so that when you engage the slide release button push the firearm slightly foreword to disengage the action lock and then pull back. If you are pulling back on the slide at the same time you are activating the release you will not be able to open the action. If that is not the problem the ejector is probably not installed correctly

Two small springs hold the "claws" that prevent your loaded rounds from ejecting onto the ground. Most likely the "grease" that was used in the day has probably? hardened into a solid mass and is preventing the "claws" from opening properly, be careful the springs are quite fragile and can be broken fairy easily, the Claws are held in place by small screws...(if I remember correctly) on the base/side of the ejection port.

Try warming it up with a blow dryer to see if it lets go.
