Just got this email
Weren't able to attend one of our shows? Sad that we didn't make it to your town? Frustrated that you didn't purchase your optic when you had the chance?
Whatever your reason, we don't want to leave you high and dry. We're just about halfway through our Winter/Spring show season, so we're giving those who missed an opportunity a second chance. We're giving you the rest of the month to take advantage of our show discounts - take 10% off any Maven product on our website.

Shipping to Canada
Anyone had Maven's shipped directly to Canada?
Any issues?
Duties + taxes?
Thanks.

Read the link above and contact SNS2 by PM. He is a big fan of the Maven optics.

From what I hear they are the best of the budget brands.
I would watch the used forums like a hawk. I got a set of swaro els for 1300 off cgn. And I found my buddy a set of els of rokslide for 1000usd. Both sets are 07 built with dings on the body. But the glass is still perfect.
Good deals come to those who wait.

They have two series: C and B. B is high end.

I doubt the high end is as high end as the big 3.
This being said, diminishing returns is real.

Don't know. I've never looked through them.
And, you are right about the diminishing returns.

I've been looking seriously at the Maven B1 and B2 binoculars for this year. It seems the B1 are comparable (if not a slight edge) over the Vortex Razors and the B2 are getting very comparable to alpha glass since they use AB prisms with very high light transmission.
If anyone around Calgary has a pair of B1s or B2s I would love to meet up and look through them in person.

Maven optics are well reviewed, they are not the big 3 but they are a great stepping stone.

bumping up the thread for discussion.
this is worth the watch as they compare C1s, B1s, B2s, B5s, SLCs and Vipers.

I'd love to hear anyone's experiences with the B1s and B2s. I like the sounds of the 9x45s but I also want the reach of the 11x45s when I head to Northern BC. 11x45s seems like they wouldn't be ideal for hand holding.
Really curious to have anyone's opinion on 9x vs. 10x vs. 11x and if you have used the Maven's that'd be even better.

If you are going to get glass that has to be tripod mounted, go with a spotting scope. That way you get enough power to judge animals at a distance. Anything over 9 or 10 power will be very hard to hand hold for long. My Leica Duovids work on 8 or 12 power, not a zoom, they only work on the two set powers. I got a great deal on them used, problem is, at the $3,600 new cost of them you could buy a good pair of binos and a spotter for less money.

That makes a lot of sense. I think the b2 9x45 has won for me.
Maybe a 12x in the future if I know it's going to be long days of glassing in open country.
