Default What's this? Found in the bush.

Went back and set some trail cameras today. Put camera same spot as last year and this was laying next to the trail. It was not there last fall when I pulled the camera.

It was made by AnchorTek LTD out of Calgary.

I'm guessing a critter must have packed it in there.

I'm guessing it's something oilfield related. The things you find some times.

Hole Plug which is inserted after the Siesmic charge has been dropped down the hole. Usually stuffed a couple feet down below surface, then filled the rest of the way with the cuttings.
When the charge goes off, sometimes they get blown out of the hole.

Ok. Didn't appear to have any human activity around. Wondered if perhaps a raven had dropped it there. It was about 100 yds off the road.

They don't make cutlines any more. It's mostly done by Helicopter now. They may slash a drop zone for the drill a little bit, but you wouldn't know they were there the following year.

Day's of Bulldozers making cut lines are gone.

Thanks for all the info. Let's hope what you describe here.
Since I found this in the heart of the pending Castle Wildland Park

Not three years ago we had a seismic crew go through my area. They used a helicopter to pack the gear to the crew, but they also slashed cut-lines with a Cat. So it would appear the days of slashing lines are not completely gone.

Plastic, about indestructible, could have been there for decades, still occasionably find lengths of cap wire sticking out of the ground as well.

Very true Grizz. I walked this trail at least 10 times last summer and fall and it was not there. Only couple feet off trail.
