So I packed up my ice fishing bucket, a chair and the wifey and headed out for an afternoon of fishing, her first time since she was 7.Took a little coaxing to get her to believe the ice was safe but she eventually stepped on and seen it was safe. The first half hour was pretty quite then all hell broke loose. Had a nibble on the tip up, as I went to check it she got a bite on her rod, as I headed back to hers I got a bite on my rod but didn't hook it.
So as I was taking the fish off her hook, my rod goes screaming towards the hole, I was thinking it's gone. Then the reel got hung up and jammed in the hole, only thing left was about an inch of the handle sticking out of the hole. Then like a cat on a mouse she stuck her hand in the hole and grabbed the rod and pulled out a nice 16.5" trout. Not sure how much it weighed but the first flick it made out of the water snapped the 4lb test line.
She was pretty bored at first but now she's hooked lol
