Need to sight in a new rifle - Edmonton area
I bought a new rifle for deer season and need to sight it in. It's been bore sighted, but will need the standard fine tuning. I'm looking for recommendations about where to sight it in.
I've done my searches of the forum and I know there are lots of threads about different ranges and so on, but the information changes regularly from what I can tell (some are closed, some are closed to new members, etc etc).
Can you recommend a place for me to go? A range, or 'acceptable' crown land locations, etc. I'm willing to travel a little to do it, but would prefer to stay around Edmonton if possible.
Thanks!

I think Edm Gun Club is shotgun only? SPFGA not accepting apps from new members until Jan 01. Think SGGC is still closed? Perhaps CHAS is taking members. Also, you might try Tofield Gun Club to the east.

I just looked at their website and it says it is a shotgun only facility ( http://www.edmontongunclub.com/). Thanks though.

Tofield isnt bad but it only goes up to a 100yrds. And they dont give any new members a key to the gate until that new member have been around for 6 months. At lest thats how it was a year ago when I went there to try it out. Try checking Spruce Grove gun range then??

I think Spruce Grove is also capped out but you can try ... I have not heard of them re-opening, so assume they have not accomplished all the things required by the Appeal Board? Camrose is another possibility. I am not familiar with clubs west of sggc.

Any members at Camrose? I have tried to get info from them but I am having no luck, does anyone know if you can still get memberships there? I had a rifle shipped out to me from abck home and the scope needs to be sighted in again.

I'll offer an option that has worked for me. First of all, what talents have you got that a farmer could use? Roofing, plumbing, welding, mechanic, etc. As a result of what I've done, I can run pretty well any farm machinery except for a combine. Visit a farmer, discuss your dilemma and offer a trade off of your talents. During harvest, farmers can often use an extra hand to get the crops baled. If you come to an agreement, you may just get a place to sight in and make a life long friend. PS, don't go all decked out in cammo clothing, leave the place as you found it or better.

You can always join the Evergreen Gun Club (near Drayton). A bit of a drive for you but it will help you. If push comes to shove you can always go to Phoenix Gun Range but not the best choice.

Evergreen has capped it's membership at 500, as of a month ago, the cap was a few away from 500.
Have you tried Wildwood?
