Default 100 yard/meter indoor range

I wanted to get a feel from the shooting community on whether Edmonton could use a new 100 metre indoor range. We will be building a new range in the north end and want feed back on whether a 100 metre indoor range would be used/worth while to build. If not we are going with 50m.

Thoughts?

There is certainly a shortage of rifle shooting spots in the Edm area so lots of potential for business. The key to success is setting the price to be attractive to customers. Sometimes the shooting crowd an be a bit fickle as they are used to unlimited shooting for less than $200/yr.
I do believe there is potentail for this business opportunity given that membership caps are leaving a lot of shooters without a place.

It will be for rifle. We are looking at electronic scoring so you don't have to walk the 100yds to check your target. http://www.sius.com/downloads/docu/b-kb-hs10-en.pdf

Rifle for the 100 yd range. We are considering an indoor archery range. We can get 30 metres inside. Outside we can get 55 metres.

What might be the membership price range? I'm from up North, but do come down to Edm and like the idea of an indoor range I can use while the wife visits her sister. Especially a rifle range.
Annndddd....the answer is entered while I type this. LOL

I think a 100 metre would be pretty popular, but I would have a day rate as well, as that is a bit difficult to get around here.

I would go.

That is, assuming I can shoot without interacting with any mall ninjas or "pros"

I would be interested at $150 for 12 visits, to supplement my outdoor range membership, but I certainly wouldn't expect a 100 yard indoor range to be the only range that I would use.

Sign me up! I've certainly spent more than 500 bucks on worse things in my life Would be a great place to go with my son. We've gone to Phoenix and that is good but the 100 yard range would be awesome. wth is live fire simulator and laser based judgmental simulator?

It would have to allow most hunting calibers to make it worthwhile for me. Is it reasonable/valid to site in a .308 or a .270 at a 100m range?

What about handguns/restricted firearms?

I would definitely buy a membership. Cant afford the elite price but a club for sure, maybe even a gold. What would the caliber limits be on the 100 meter?

The address is 12025 160th Street. Access off 118 Ave by Acklands. The building used to be Beaver Plastics.

The Red Deer Shooting centre and the Calgary Shooting Centre have achieved 50 BMG as the largest calibre. We plan on using the same type of backstop. The rifle range we will allow steel core (7.62.x39) but not on the 25yd range.

There will be a 20 lane 25 yard range for all types of handguns and some rifles. The 25 yard range will have something like the Action Target Target retrieval system. You can program distance, get the target to turn, etc.

Simulator.

This sounds like a great project!

I hope there is plans for good ventilation on the firearm shooting ranges...indoor ranges can be quite horrible long term. Especially for folks who work there. A good air exchange and ventilation system is a must.

I would have no problems paying those prices. Especially to do load development in the winter.

Default New Range in Edmonton

An update on the progress of the new Edmonton Range. Early design layout is done. We are getting quotes for construction. The final plan is going to see a 14 lane 100 metre range with electronic scoring, no walking down range to set-up or view targets. 21 lanes at 25 metre. One of the 7 lanes will be a simulator live fire range. We are looking at an indoor and outdoor archery range.

The building will all house a 3000 square foot retail space filled with everything the shooter needs, from ammo to cleaning kits to Krieghoff shotguns.

We are hoping to specialize in the Police and Military accessories.

Opening date is planned for 1 Dec 2014.

We are looking for good people to help run the place. RSOs, and retail.
