Default 44 spl - 44 mag

So I know typically a revolver designed for 44 mag can shoot 44 spl...
I see a fellah selling a charter arms Pitbull in 44 spl....now the question is this small frame revolver is not designed for cooking 44 mag rounds..it doesn't work the other way, does it?? Troubles ahead perhaps?

I've got the same revolver in 9mm - it's a pretty small frame to be throwing 44 mag down range....

You are exactly right.

Just like a .38 Special cannot chamber .357 Magnum, .44 Special cannot chamber .44 magnum to any degree of safety. It actually should be too long to fit in the cylinder among other things (the magnum round).
