Default New trigger

I installed a Timney Trigger (purchased from Accurate Action) on my Swedish Mauser. Removing the old trigger and installing the new one was very easy. Required a bit of wood working to get the new trigger to fit into the stock. Then it required a bit of work to enlarge the hole in the bottom metal.

Other than doing a bump test (done) and a lot of dry firing (working on it) is there anything I should do before taking it out and testing it?

Assuming this is a m96, I'd say take it out to the range and try it out. Just remember to take tools with you in case it needs to be adjusted. Any idea on what the trigger pull is set to?

Yes, M96.

Good point!

Timney says it comes set to 3lbs; I was planning on playing with the pull weight.

You'll have to let me know if the Timney is worth it. I've got a M96 in 8mm that would benefit from a trigger job.

Worth it? Hmmm... is adding a $100 trigger to a $300 rifle worth it?

There is definitely no comparison between the original and the Timney. The original had a lot of take-up and over travel, the Timney has next to none of either. I do like it -- I shot my first <1" 5 shot group today (we won't talk about the other 3 targets ) -- but you will have to decide if it is "worth it".

If I was forced to choose only one "upgrade" to a factory rifle to enhance accuracy--my choice would be a good trigger.

Added a rifle basix onto a savage 111 of mine and it was incredible compared to the factory trigger (non-accutrigger) and it is better than the Remington x mark pro trigger that I have. For the price it was worth it. Groupings tightened a bit also. Wouldn't hesitate to get another if I needed.

BTW, after sending the first five down range, I decided to leave the trigger weight where it was at. After all, it is a hunting rifle... I don't want it going off because I hiccoughed

Installation time was about an hour; most of that time was spent with either a chisel or a bastard file.
