Default Plucker motor

Last year we were pretty successful duck hunting and I just plucked too many ducks. I'm trying to improve our system. We bought a goose hitch, but I also like plucking some of the better looking ducks.

I'm just starting my research now and I'd like a few suggestions. My plan is to affix an electric motor to a sheet of plywood. The motor will rotate a plucker I either buy or make and will run of a truck or atv battery. I want to be mobile so that I can pluck in the field, so DC, battery operated is a must. From what I've read this makes a big mess, so field plucker would be best. I assume this wouldn't upset the farmer who owns the field.

I don't want to use an electric drill. I just dislike the inconsistency of my cheaper cordless drill. Also, I think a motor might be easier to fasten to a piece of plywood than a drill would be.

Last, I'd prefer my hunting budget goes towards other things such as decoys and ammo, so I'd like to keep it below $100, if not $50 for the motor. I'm starting to look at pricess auto for supplies but would appreciate an experience opinion.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Smile Are you sure about this?

The people who sell chicks (chickens) have plans, I imagine that UFA has a kit.

Once the ducks are cold, and after they have been dead for awhile they will be you need HOT water to loosen the feathers. You need an electric motor that runs on 110 power. The motor can be had on Kijji.

Once your friends see the plucker, if they are farm boys, they will disappear!

If you pluck them as soon as the dog brings them back, the feathers will come off fairly easily, but later, not so much.

i would ask with the farmers before plucking in their field too. i wouldnt bee too impressed if i had a pile of feathers left in the middle of one of our fields.

but a home made plucker is a good idea! what about a motor from an old bench grinder or something?
