Setting up trail cams, scouting etc

Hey guys, i've been wanting to get out and set up some trail cams, but between planning a wedding and other commitments i have not been able to find any free time to go do it.
so my question is, how early do you guys usually get out there and get them set up, and how early are you all out there scouting?
also, how close to the season opener will you continue to go out and scout?
what do you think is too late to set up the cams if there is infact a time thats "too late"

the wedding is this saturday so hopefully i'll have some free time in july! haha

If you put them out now, you can track horn growth etc. I usually put mine out when the season opens in sept. Come Nov, I have seen a few WT and what they have for head gear. I hunt crown land north of Athabasca and my trail cams are always back on a grown in cutline and at least 100 yrds down a game trail to avoid any theft. Most guys ride atv all day and are to lazy to walk a old line or trail where I hunt so I should be safe. Keep that in mind when you chose your location as every year a lot of guys lose their cameras to thieves. I take mine out on the last weekend of Nov.

I actually don't set my cameras up until just before season, so basically the first couple weeks of August. I don't do much scouting off season, most of my scouting gets done during the hunt. When i stumble upon a good spot while hunting, then ill set some cameras up and see whats there during season. Helps me out for the season, but mainly helps with the next season as i will know what kind of animals are hanging around that area during the hunting season.

Basically, it is never too late to scout. Some hunters scout all year, others during the season. Depends on what your after and how much time you have.

First of all start prioritizing... I put mine up all year, also depends what your hunting i guess. Ive been scouting almost every night and at this time of the year white tails are patternable so if your looking for an early season buck thats your ticket. I also place cameras later on in the season where does are to see if any bucks come cruising through. I was hunting a field for moose where I thought no white tails came through but come november they used it as a funnel and had shooters walking through weekly, definitely helps!

i finally broke down and sprung for 2 of them. didnt think i ever would, but i got them set up tonight. with any luck ill get a pic of a cougar or an elk......or best of all a cougar killing an elk.

Me and my hunting partner have 7 hung so far.....3 more to hang....its a lot of work but I have all my bowzone spots locked down and by the end of july I should have the rest of my regular permission locked down.
