There is a lot of infrastructure in the Russian Arctic. There are over a million people up there in large cities. There are more people in the Russian Arctic than are in Saskatchewan. Murmansk has an open water port all year round. There are 16 deep water ports in the Russian Arctic. Canada has 0..............Churchill at 68 degrees N is the closet thing we have. The arctic in Russia and Canada are not the same. It's not even a discussion to send the army to the Arctic...........the navy and air force yes.........................not the army. Take a look at the coast lines of N Russia vs N Canada...........not comparable. For some reason when people start to say we should have bases in the north they automatically think army..................What?
