Default lakes for pike fishing 3-4 h from saskatoon

Hi,

I am in Canada/Saskatoon only for are short time. I will have time for a short fishing trip. (the up coming Monday to Wednesday) Do you have any suggestions for a lake to go for Pike fishing? I should be near Saskatoon (if possible not more far than 3-4 hours ). I am looking for a cabin and a boat. I thought about Turtle lake, Emmer lake, Iroquois lake or Tobin lake. With the latter I am not sure because of the high water level right now and "dirty" water in the rivers.

I would appreciate any suggestions,

cheer and thanks for your help, Jens

Uh, this is an alberta outdoorsmen site, not Saskatchewan...which saskatoon has to be part of Saskatchewan. So maybe try a SK forum like fishingsaskatchewan.ca.

However, since I am from the province...I don't know of any places that has rentals for cabins and boats besides northern sask.

Hi Jens,
Welcome to the Alberta Outdoorsmen Forum, and we welcome all people, including Saskatchewanites (even the ones who used to reside in Alberta,, Hey Mustang, what brings you here?). So Jens, where are you from and what do you normally fish for?

I am from Rostock a city in northern Germany directly located at the baltic coast.
I normally go for perch, trout, herring and pike. but I am not an expert. I normally combine fishing with hiking especial in Norway or Sweden. When I left Germany almost two weeks ago, the garfish season started which I always enjoy ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garfish )
But as most of you probably know, fishing in Germany is not this good. Our lake are not this full of fish. Thatīs way I always try to go for fishing when I am in Canada. Unfortunately that may 10th time in Saskatoon and the trip tomorrow will be only my 3th. Therefore, I try to find the right spot and try to ask local people to "ensure" the I will have a good fishing trip and get my pike because in the last years I will probably not get the chance to come to canada.

Gustav Mahler, the name that sounds German to me.

@Topwater: I will give you a call, but fist I have to organise my fishing equipment. Unfortunately, there where no space in my luggage

Try the river there first. The basic lakes close by are Deifenbaker, Last Mountain, Tobin. You should able to fill your fishing void there.

Nice to see a fellow European enjoying Canadian waters. Diefenbaker has always been very good to me.
Jens have you ever fished in Schleswig-Holstein areas?? I come from Sonderborg, about 3 hours from Rostock and there is usually good fishing in between Flensburg and Sonderborg in the coast.
