Default Costco Safes???!!!

a bit ago, went to Costco, ran into a nice safe, with the name Honeywell on it. very nice, pushbutton combination. had some kind of stainless panel on the door, real b!tch!n heavy. it was a bit damaged from the shipping, to thier store i guess. but no one could find a price, came home, looked online, cant find it. only some other one for like $1500 .

Anyone seen the safe im talking and at what location, and got a price???? Phoning doesnt seem to help either (its time to add another safe.

I had seen those also. One of the ones I had seen also had sustained some damage, likely from some dweeb knocking it over while the door was open. Needless to say, the hinges had become bent and the door would not close. Why it was still on the floor I find very odd. Until I had seen the damaged one, I was considering one. Afterwards it left a taste of low quality in my mouth and I decided against one.

Did the one you saw have a smaller cabinet inside lockable with a cylindrical key? It seemed intended for ammunition. Perhaps manufactured to meet some absurd Kalifornia storage legislation. I can't recall if the one I had seen was Honeywell or Brinks...... Price in my memory was $650 ish

the one i seen had red letters saying Honeywell. it was laying on its back. This was in the sherwood park costco. i opened the door to the safe wand it was very heavy, so it seems like a solid, heavy safe. Would hate to have been around it if it was knocked over

didnt see the second storage with a lock, but there were shelves, it was carpeted all inside, had those thick locking lugs on the sides of the door. and a built in humidifier.

i think im gonna go on a Costco Run, and hit them all up.

Mike, I had a friend pick me one up at the Lethbridge Costco. I'm sure it is the exact Honeywell safe you are talking about. I paid the full price of $420 (at least that's what he told me) and I understand they come on sale at least once a year for $100 less, with a coupon.

A great safe and at 350 lbs., pretty sturdy. Good luck. Regards, Mike

They must have got a whole truck load of screwed up ones. I saw one in Red Deer Costco. It was damaged as well. It looked like the door had been slamed or something. The actual locking lugs that are attached to the three handle latch wouldn't retract because they were bent. If the locking lugs can bend that easy I have my doubts on there quality.

Yes, that is the one. I got mine in early November... they didn't advertise "damaged goods" (?) and if there is anything wrong with it, I certainly haven't found it. It included the humidifier and an additional locking strong box. I am able to get 8 scoped rifles in pretty easily. I have a couple other 14 gun safes and I would say the Honeywell's are equal in quality at less than half the price. Good luck in your quest. Regards, Mike

Chevy, if I remember correctly, it is fire-rated to 15 minutes. Absolutely double check the literature because I am not convinced that we are all talking about the same Honeywell model? I think my Sentry's have a much better rating but they were about $1,200 each (14 gun). I was impressed with the Honeywell, but there seem to be a few quality concerns as evidenced by some of the posts. I don't have the Honeywell literature in front of me so I can't tell you the exact model #. Regards, Mike

Substitute the black for green and I would bet that is the same safe. In my previous post I was going from memory on the 15 minute fire rating and I see this one has the same. Mike, I have got to believe it is the same safe. Regards, Mike

Got ours there, saved the 100 from our coupon and couldnt find a better safe. Holds 16 guns, ammo box, carpet and pockets inside. Key and keypad entry. Not one dent in ours, some paint chip off the back from getting it out of the Old dodge diesel. Good note, it has powder in it to mix with water to fix the spots where you scratch the paint off. Best purchase by far on that item.

I pick one up this summer paid $470 or somthing like that. nice carpet inside and ammo box works great took 3 of us to move the thing. Has 5 bolts, 1 up 3 out the side and 1 down. i think this thing is the best product on the market for the money it costs. touch pad works great and has a key override for when the batteries burn out. also come with a dehumidifier (spl) for inside the safe.

Edmonton West End had at least 3 left about .. 4 days ago? Something like that. On the floor were at least two in boxes, and one floor model with some scratches. I got a new one and a floor model last round a few months ago, and I do NOT regret those purchases. Price right now is $349 I think, easily worth it.

-Frank

Oh.. when I went back to buy the second several months ago, there was nothing on the floor, the sales people had taken the floor model in back... but I asked about it and they showed it to me, I told them I'd take it, and they gave me a REALLY good markdown on it. Worth asking even if you don't see them right off...
