Heck of an offer. I wouldn't take the replies too seriously. Just guys trying to be funny.

Somewhat disappointed that there's no update. Possibly could've lent a hand as well.
Maybe doesn't want to make it public that his machine is out there yet?

I was slightly paranoid when I had to go rescue my sled after a few days on the trail. Had appointments and had a machine failure on the first attempt.... Was fine though, and I don't think anyone was down the trail that late for awhile. Gave me a chance to get an extra extra belt...

Sorry if my comment came out that way. I have spent a lot of time in the bush also, and not commenting on anyone else’s experience, other than my own. My Argo comment was based solely on my experiences with them, that tend to be a bit of an ordeal.

I lived in the Drayton Valley area, and would have certainly gone out to offer a hand had I still been there. I’m grateful for the offers of help that I see on here, as we never know when we could find ourselves in the same situation as the OP.

I am hopeful that he was able to recover the unit safely.

There was a couple extra quads there, so I'm assuming he wasn't alone and made it out. And even in bad cell coverage areas, usually just a short walk to get to a message or call out.

That's the thing with machinery. Really not a question of "if" but when it fails. Got my kid and I to the trailhead with my old quad and that's when it decided that it started for the last time without mechanical intervention. My fault really, but I decided I needed to update a little and passed it off to a guy who doesn't mind tinkering.

Default Argo

Absolutely true...all machinery breaks! After walking through the bush for a thousand miles I got my first old Argo. Since then I have had 6 Argos , Numerous Polaris Rangers(still have one Ranger and an Argo) several quads and sleds. They all have their place and issues, even the brand new ones. The Ranger is good when the muskegs are frozen, other wise stay away! The Argo goes anywhere and has never left me stranded. I can not say that about the Rangers. Service and maintenance is key.

Yup lots of muskeg around here. The Wife kinda wanted a sxs for a bit, but the trails are just so soft it'd take a specialized sort of monster build to make it through to go anywhere.

More quad or Argo territory. Even with 28x11" tires and locking front diff I still find soft spots to get sunk in. Stock my machine is only 600 lbs dry. With most side by sides, a fella's asking those same tires to support 2 or 3 times that weight and probably more underbelly to drag through the mud.

No matter what you have for a machine it will never make up for bad rider decisions, inexperience and the inevitable “my (insert brand and horsepower here) can go through anything because it’s a ( insert brand and horsepower here ) mentality.

I’ve ridden out in that Elk river rd area. Best done with a large entourage of winches on wheels

Oh, I know that! And I'm a bad one for finding out how far I can get ...plus a lil more!

So I guess we both know that we're not going to get very down some of these trails in a 3/4 ton on street tires, versus a purpose built machine.

Agree. My guess is he blanket requested here and other atv/4x4 sites and was helped out that day and has forgot to update.

Great offer Grumpahogrider.

Looks like the member has been signed in since his request for help but has chosen to leave us hanging.
