Government Contracts
Liberal fraud & corruption.
Three contractors are bidding to repair a fence at the Parliament Buildings. One is from Montreal, another from Winnipeg and the third is from Vancouver.
All three go with a public works official to examine the fence and see what needs to be done.
The Vancouver contractor takes out a tape measure, does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well" he says, "I estimate the job will run about $9,000. That's $4,000 for materials, $4,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me."
The Winnipeg contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $7,000. That's $3,000 for materials, $3,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me".
The Montreal contractor takes no measurement and does no estimating, but leans over to the government official and whispers, "$27,000." The government official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys. How did you come up with such a high figure?
The Montreal contractor whispers back, "$10,000 for me, $10,000 for you, and we hire the guy from Winnipeg to repair the fence."

In a normal place and time that would be extremely funny. But here, right now, it's so close to true that it's actually sad.
But I still laughed.

I was hoping it was the fence repair at Roxham Road. $27 Grand would have been at least worth it.

The real winners are those who do the endless studies, before the government acts. That's where most of the corruption beginas.

It goes right down to local and municipal gov'ts. Our Canadian tire and walmart and other stores were once a sheep farm zoned for farmland. Owner wanted to change zoning to commercial and industrial. County said no. Farmer sold for farmland price to someone of influence. Next thing you know the land is zoned commercia/ industrial, subdivided and sold off for millions.
If you watch over time what happens with local gov'ts you will see. Dirt county road, local gov't keeps quiet that it will be paved, people in the know, know it will be paved and extended, they buy up land cheap, wait until it is paved, next thing for sale signs pop up all along it and subdivisions start popping up.
As far as gov't contracts in my opinion they are pretty much a way to launder taxpayer money into the pockets of friends of gov't.
I find it interesting that gov't employees be they voted in or have climbed the ladder to positions of influence somehow begin to live lives far above their pay grade.

Quite simple. The cream in government rises to the most senior positions. Then retirement (age 55)+ gold plated pension. Then become contractors to the governments that they were in the head of )assisting elected ministers in Environment, Health, Resources, etc. Then command $2500.00/ day. Protect that little nest egg, at all costs. Therefore they thwart any reduction in government expenses. I know a couple of men doing just that (for another 25 years). Gold.

No doubt. A Sask minister’s window company just got a contract in his own riding. Nothing to see though, I’m sure is is the 2006 NDP’s fault. Lol
