Apparently so..

I hadn't heard that there was another death-by-skate only 2 years ago. The article mentions a high school kid died after his throat was sliced.
I can see mandatory neck guards becoming a thing for all ages, not just the little guys.

Same here.
Won’t see the light of day I bet.

I see two players collide, a leg get caught on a skate and fly up, and a tragic accident. Variations of that same play happen all the time, but the stars don't align in the perfectly wrong way to cause a tragedy.

How anyone can look at that video and think the player intentionally "roundhouse kicked" an opponent is absolutely beyond me. I think it speaks more to the character of those making the accusation than it does to the poor guy who's having his life torn apart by internet mind readers. Brutal...
Hey man. I must have missed the memo that we can't state our opinion if it is different from yours.

It's a tragedy, but clearly there was intent to make contact.

I must have missed the part where I said you weren't able to state your opinion?????

Or is this just another example of your ability to read people's mind and know their intentions...

You can even see him extend his leg and kick him right in the neck

I'm thinking calling it an accident in thread title was not the best choice of words. Negligent would be too kind.

With all the cut-proof fabrics these days I can't see why it would need to be anything uncomfortable or performance affecting. I think if I was a player I would want that.

This is far from being over ,there's a lot of angry folks and loved ones out there that will see that everything is dealt with on how this all happened.

Just a terrible thing for all those around him , even team mates that are hardcore players will be really bothered by this for a long time.

Doesn't look good on how it happened ,will just wait and see what the law and NHL board comes up with .

So many out there eating up good grub and breathing in good air that are just plain evil and dodge death till there very old and this guy is now gone from his whole family at the peck of his life doing what he loved. Life doesn't seem fair at times so make everyday count for the better in life to all around you in your daily life .

I guess it is not for us here to decide whether it was an accident or intentional. A decision would never be agreed upon.

There will be better views of this tragedy that we will not be see on social media due to the investigation.

I do know one thing that is sad regarding safety it that these policies, regulations, procedures etc are written only when blood is spilt, people get injured or killed.

Out of all of this I hope some form of neck protection becomes mandatory for all hockey players to wear.

As long as I live on this earth, my son will never play the game without one.

You'll have to spell it out for me if you want to make your point, because I simply don't see anything in that post that states, or even implies, that you, sns2, or anyone else can't have a different opinion. Sns2's post was actually completely out of left field as far as I'm concerned, I'm still not sure how he or you made that mental leap, I never would have got that from my post and I still don't.

Questioning someone's opinion is in no way the same as denying their right to have an opinion.
You're right, you didn't say others couldn't have an opinion.
You just make a point of questioning the character of anyone who disagrees with with your opinion. That's all.

Carry on. I'm out.

Yep. I did that. Still feel that way. I'm not going to apologize for it because some took offense.

Even Adam Johnson's own teammates that were right there and watched it live have come out and called it a freak accident with no intent. They're defending Matt Pettgrave. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion...

I'm out.
