Bit early for robins but I've got about 20 chickadees and 4 or 5 woodpeckers...all different sizes. And I've lived here for a long time and never had sparrows!

And I'm still feeding a few rabbits.

Flickers on our log suet feeder all winter here. Nice looking birds especially since they are right at the window beside my Lazy boy chair. I dont even bother them any more even only a few feet away. Same with the regular Downy woodpeckers.

There won’t be any robins in east central Alberta for another month or so. There hasn’t been any goose sightings in my area yet, usually the first hardy ones appear in the 2nd-3rd week of February.

In other wildlife news, the covey of 19 partiridge that lived in the yard this winter were battling a couple weeks ago and have now all paired off for the spring. Hopefully we get a good spring hatch, they’re my favorite birds to have around.

[QUOTE=yoteblaster;4615991]Anyone seeing Robins yet? I live in Red Deer and i have seen at least 1 robin a few months ago while out for a walk along the river and saw a couple either last year or the year before around the same place. These i would assume never flew south but overwintered. Northern Flickers used to be the same and flew south in the winter but now see them quite regularity for years in the winter.

There are a fair number of robins that spend the winter in Calgary along the Bow River. There's also a small group of swans that have been here all winter. I'm not a birder so I'm not sure if the swans and robins usually spend winter here or if it's a recent development.
There's always a lot of ducks and geese that overwinter as well.

Bad lighting. Poor camera. Lousy photographer. Good lookin' robin.

The swans started hanging around Calgary for the winter about 5 years ago.
I saw a flock of robins down by the Bow in January. Things are changing....

I heard one singing that tune last weekend - makes me smile. Only three more months of winter!

Rode my bike into downtown Calgary this morning. Saw these guys hangin' out.

Also saw this guy exercising his God given right to flip the bird at these geese.
