Default Tikka magazine length/lands distance issue

I own a Tikka T3 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. It is 10 years old, I bought it new. I’ve have next to no luck hand loading ammunition for this gun. It’s only in the last two years have I started measuring based on CBTO. Once I learned how to do this I realized that my gun likes ammunition to be seated very close or right on the lands to get consistent sub MOA groups. In my gun the lands are an 1/8” too far for ammunition to be seated anywhere near them and still fit in the magazine. Factory ammo fits in my magazine, but hand loads are too long if I seat them .005” off the lands.
I’ve tried several bullets, powders and numerous seating depths that fit the magazine, but I still struggle to get sub MOA groups. I’ve also tried high quality brass.
My question is do others have this same issue? If so is there anything to be done about it or do I own a single shot Tikka?

Default Tikka 7mag

I have the same rifle and it likes 160 Accubonds with a near max load of H1000. Getting 2950 avg velocity. I seat bullets to max for the mag. Also, like you I cannot get anywhere near the lands. It shoots MOA consistently if I do my part.

Measure the length on the factory load that shoots best in the gun and copy that. Make sure the bullet is similar between your reload and the factory load.

Also a stock Tikka T3 is light for a magnum caliber making it hard to shoot. Try adding some weight to the gun if you haven’t already. Just my 2 cents

This is why I decided to not buy another Tikka and went to Savage instead . Savage short action mags allow for 3.00" COAL compared to Tikka's 2.80".

I did this but used hard maple instead of the aluminum block.

I have never had trouble getting a Tikka to shoot sub moa, a friends T-3 in 7mmremmag likes the 140gr TTSX in front of R-22.

Here is a pretty cheap upgrade to get you 3.4” COAL.

Have you tried Barnes LRX or TTSX? They usually work best at about .080" off the lands. My 280 jumps them .180" due to magazine length restrictions and shoots tiny groups.

You can seat out to 3.340”and still fit the mag. I would also try a different primer, sometimes it makes a huge difference.

What primers

As said the mono's may be your friend, over the lead cores. My Scenar's have quite a jump but still shoot very well.
