Default MeatEater: Copper vs Lead Bullet

MeatEater just put out a good video on the differences between copper, bonded, and Berger bullets. I say Bergers specifically because that’s what they used as their “cup and core” bullet but I think it’s a tiny bit misleading as Bergers are known to be very frangible, where a more typical cup and core like a Gameking, ELD-X or SST aren’t quite that explosive. They should have 2 different cup and core bullets IMO.

Interesting comparison still. Copper and bonded just exploded the bone.

The eldx isn’t that much better than the eldm
I was surprised at how immediate the copper bullets expanded
Which would explain why they are so velocity dependent in order to perform
Might have to try some more bonded bullets again
Problem is finding them lol

And paying for them. See the price of partitions the last few months?

Interesting . However doesn’t relate a lot on how it disrupts organs, tissue etc . “Sniper “ makes it sound like cup and core bullets are no good .

It’s been that way for awhile. I like partitions, but they are sure proud of their bullets.

Who would have thought lead would be more expensive than copper.

I watched this a few days ago. Kinda statistically invalid would be a start. Extremely small sample size in both product and process. Take it for what it’s worth IMO.

Not all eldx are the same. For instance 180 gr .30 cal vs 200gr .30 cal theres a big difference in jacket thickness. The 200gr is quite a bit tougher. Between my brother and I we have 7 kills on deer, and elk using the 200 gr in a 300wm at various distances. All were text book. The 3 critters I have shot with the 180s almost exploded.... I havent cut both apart but I'd say from performance on game theres a big difference.

I shot a mule buck at 760 yards with a 200gr eldx out of my 300wm. I was very surprised to see how the bullet had came apart. I found a few pieces that were only about 30-40 gr.

200 will be slower and penetrate deeper because it is expanding less
Also it also had more material to shed
