Jawjacker and whitefish

Hi
I was wondering what method people are using with the jawjacker when fishing for whitefish.
I'm using the wiggle wheel (smallest movement) on the jigging jawjacker when fishing for whitefish and so far the whitefish are winning. No hits no fish.
I was wonder what techniques people are using who are getting hits when using the jawjacker when fishing for whites. No movement.... more movement...???

Any advise or feedback would be great. So far the whitefish are winning...

Can you get some thin flatbar for breezy days that bup your worm on the bottom?

I find that I catch with movement, swedish pimple, rod tip at hole edge represents the bottom, quick lift of six inches and return tip to holes edge to create flutter and bottom bup.

Others will chime in, but for me, specific movement is key

Whites aren't really a deadstick fish in my experience. I find them much easier to catch sight fishing or preferably watching them on electronics (easier on my back).

I often find in general the jawjackers do better without the jigging base (ie- motionless). YMMV.

Not saying this is or isn't the issue - but let me offer up one thought ....

One of the biggest overlooked things to look for if you are getting bites or trips and not hooking up is making sure your hooks are sticky sharp.

I bet 9/10 people, from my observation, don't keep their hooks sharp enough and don't seem to have their sharpener handy and near them giving their hooks a few passes every little bit throughout the day.

I pretty well exclusively use a Jaw jacker for whites. Even when sight fishing them, the whites I chase don’t seem to like any movement at all upon approach to the hook. If I give the line a little wiggle now & again, it’s usually to see if it catches their attention. But if I do it while they’re to close, they won’t take it and it spooks them off. So most of the time I leave it to sit still.

I have a good success with JJ for whitefish. I fish like Soiler, occasional little wiggle to make sure that the line didn't freeze up. Back up adjusting nut so slightly tension will set it up. I like to use 28" medium rod and try to have a hook no more than 4-6' below the ice. If the line is to long fish will have more time to spit out the hook. Line from the reel should have as little slack as you can make without setting it off. Use reel with good brake so can be adjust with light drag.

had one white nose my hook yesterday and missed then just kept going. never seen another fish , was in deep water.

I’ve got about 40 hours jawjacker time with 2 wireworms on my line at pigeon.
Talked to a guy and he said he catches them in 25’ of water.
I’ve got my bottom ww about a foot off the bottom and the next one about 6’ off the bottom.
Jj is set away from the tent by its lonesome.
I fish for walleye to entertain myself while I wait. Lol
Seeing whites on camera. Usually 6-10’ off the bottom cruising around.
Jj hasn’t gone off yet.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I be fishing shallower waters?

I would suggest trying higher in the water column.

Rarely does my JJ go off over by its lonesome. I actively fish around it. Whites are very curious and it does not hurt to catch their attention. If they don't like what is on the line of whatever you used to attract them then if the JJ setup is nearby for them to take a look at instead...

Just be ready to reel in one or the other as fast as you can once you do hook up or you'll have one hell of a mess...lol

I've had my best luck for whites using the tooth wheel.
That was last year. JJ outfished me most days This year only had a few hits on it.
