Default DIY Euro mount on CWD deer.

Wondering how you would handle the head when doing a euro. Where do you dump the water that you boil it in? How do you spray out the brain cavity without getting matter all over your lawn? Etc. those types of considerations.

I honestly wouldn’t. It’s not worth spreading the prions all over your place.

To get the brain out quickly, easily and with NO mess:
Poke a compressor blower nozzle through a plastic bag (or organics bag if you live in a city with organic green bin pickup) and push it into the brain from the back of the skull. Cover the skull with the bag, to prevent blowback and splatter. Then simply fire a couple quick blasts from the compressor and the brain will come out into the bag. Toss in the garbage or green bin and you’re done.

I’m currently doing a euro on a mule deer shot in 102. I used a hole cutter drill bit on the back of the skull to access the skull cavity to scoop out the brains. I’m still waiting on the results of the CWD test.

Good post, just started hunting a CWD zone this year and would do a Euro if a nice buck was harvested. I didn't even think about this issue.

Curious to hear what others have done with their Euro remnants.

Sounds like a good method for the brain. As an FYI CWD parts should not go into compost! Double bagged into city landfill is the proper disposal.

The local car wash would be an alright spot to pressure wash post boil.

Forest fires are the only way to kill prions that I have heard. Maybe research to see if boiling has the same effect.

.

I don’t think fires are hot enough to destroy covid. And it takes. Several hours in strong bleach, that bleach can’t get into the bones etc.

Two not so great ideas there. Carwash can blow out the fine nasal bones that make a Euro look better, and boiling can yellow the skull and suck the fats and oils deeper.

Beetle it

Soak for 10 minutes in high test hydrogen peroxide

Soak in dish detergent to remove odor

Bleach can erode bones as well. They will continue to degrade long long after you pull it out of the bleach.

If you do the hot water dont boil. Simmer...

And hydrogen peroxide as stated, not bleach

If you do the pressure washer just use your own or buy one. Hunters dont need any bad publicity by spraying tissue all over a car wash regardless if it's legal or your right

Default CWD euro mounts

You dont have to send the brain in any more. I talked to a wildlife biologist and you can simply send in the lymph nodes located near the back of the throat.

Google search it, there easy to find and much simpler to do if your euro mounting
