Smile Scientists acknowledge hunting community conservation success

This article in The Scientific American deals with declining bird populations throughout North America in the last 50 years. The researchers acknowledge that waterfowl populations have rebounded during the same time period due to the conservation efforts of the recreational hunting community.
I'm shocked.
