Default Holy cow!

It looks like someone may have been listening to the people that use the area.
Hopefully there is follow through.
I will stay optimistic.

Nixon is a switched on guy. Hard to find in Politics these days. We are lucky to have him in this portfolio.

A little credit is due to those who took the time to make this an issue with their representatives, nothing happens if no one speaks up.

Castle
Blue Rapids
Eagle Point

And likely quite a few others need some serious review.

Hopefully this Minister will get onto it.

I don't see anything wrong with refurbishing current campsites. A few more campgrounds strategically located wouldn't hurt either.

Happy that if you read what has been wrote, that it will continue is some form, with a UCP twist. Several of his comments indicate they are modifying it, not entirely cancelling it. After all it was started by the Conservative government before. At least now if there is a cost over run the NDP are to blame for all the extra money they blow. Cancelled in its present form is how he put it.

If our leader institutes this increase on our RV registrations, he will have extra cash to spend on their version of the plan. I will have to go on FB and find his glowing comment on my old classmate's idea of taxing our RVs plates. Not a tax, but a service fee. That gets around that no new tax law, won't it. But its only a promise from a politician, so what are the odds of that coming true.
(Crooked PC party -Wildrose party) + Wildrose part=Crooked UCP. Just guessing, so don't get mad at me, I'm only doing the math.

Sure wish other Wildrose members would have stayed with having a backbone, instead falling for the divided we fall speech. We would have voted in a Wildrose government instead.
But some people never learn. Enjoy them. Shouldn't be long and people will remember why the WR party made such a big entrance, and how the behavior of MLA's like Innisfail's MLA showed us why they cowardly ran back. My money spent on a membership taught me enough to be sceptical.

The Castle is much better now that it's a park. There are decent outhouses and I can fish without seeing quads illegally driving through the river nearby. Some of those mudholes caused by random camping/ATVs might even start growing in now too, instead of getting bigger and deeper every year. I guess the biggest change is that you actually have to get off your butt and walk to get to fishing spots now. It's a tough life out there.

Good riddance to the scraping of the Bighorn plan, they need proper consultation without being shoved down our throats by ex-minister Phillips. Loved riding in Castle and the NDP outright lied to and ignored consultation of locals.. Same thing was happening in the Bighorn it's unethical and wrong. Yes there needs to be more protection in our Crownland. I dont think many will disagree with that but I do not agree on the way they were making sweeping changes.. Imagine how many CO's you can hire with 40 million to actually enforce laws.

I disagree, I have been fishing and hunting there for the majority of my life and I don't like the changes. I have never owned an ATV but the lakes and creeks I used to fish are now inaccesible since they closed down old forestry roads (not just ATV trails). I suppose you can still hike in, but now a full extra day will be added. I will not hunt elk where I used to, as again the roads nearby have been shutdown. So instead of packing an elk out on your back 5-10km to the nearest road, you are triple that. Plus you can't set up a hunt camp off the road like in the past.

Need to turn the page back 4 years and revisit the South Saskatechewan Regional plan that was starting to work before the NDP got in for the Castle/Oldman areas. What is needed is in put from all user groups.

Everyone did have their input, the consultation for the regional plan was well advertised, it showed up on this board regularly. Some that didn't get their way are now crying that it wasn't, that's simply not true. I am sure changes are coming, hopefully it won't revert back to the free for all that it was. I get a kick out of the distructo's trying to portray themselves as the voice of reason. If the back country wasn't being abused none of this would have happened.

While I agree that there is definitely abuse going on that needs to be curtailed, I don't believe that is why it happened. Need to look a little deeper than that

Abuse comes with ignorance. If there was education and enforcement no changes would have been needed. Which would have been much cheaper than paving the road to Castle and installing a water line all the way from the pass.

Your elitist fisherman attitude is getting old. Those that don’t agree with your opinion are “destucto’s” as you put it. Yup, that’s it

And just another elitist fisherman’s opinion. Yup, it’s all about you...

I don't think the issue is as black and white as you see it. OHV users got screwed the hardest and there was define fudging of consultation, very specifically worded surveys asking the same question in multiple ways to confuse people, changing of plans last minute, and public houses where the public could not attend. Just look at Shannon cancelling bighorn consultations due to threats of violence yet there was no report made to the RCMP. Its fine for you to put blinders on and sit high on an ivory pedestal just because fishing hasn't been targeted, but its straight BS for other users.

I hope they ban fishing on the west slopes just to see how your attitude would change.

I never called those that disagree with me as destructo's. Rather those that caused the damage. You are right when you say enforcement should have done it. But how do you police such a vast area, the only way I see is increasing the fines and putting all fine revenue back to man power.

I have a tough time believing like has been said education is the answer. I believe most of the destruction was done with the majority of the people doing it, knowing it was destruction.

I believe the new government will make changes, hopefully everyone can be reasonably happy.

The solution to habitat abuse -weather in the Prairies or the Foothills- is foot access only. Boots prints are always better than ATV tire ruts and wildlife will have more space to breathe and breed! Of course quite a few of us will be shut off but that's my opinion.

Education isn’t just the 3 r’s. Some have to learn the hard way. Through the pocket book. That’s where enforcement comes into play.
