Marks work wearhouse- Traction on demand winter boots Black Friday sale
I bought a pair of these a couple weeks ago, and they are just awesome. They are on sale right now for $209, reg $299. They have a flip out crank in the heel, turn it and 6 steel spikes extend. The traction is amazing. I have wiped out on ice, no more.

Have you found them to be too hot in the warmer weather we are currently having?

Not at all, haven't been sweating in them. I am still in break in mode, not doing heavy work. I am not sure if they are great for real cold but will know soon enough I am afraid.

Marks gift cards are 20% off at Canadian Tire, that turns it into a great deal

Mark's is a stand up kind of business. I bought a pair of shoes there and 6 months later a seam came loose. I went in to the store where I bought them without the receipt and mentioned it while paying for another pair of the same shoe. The saleslady took my shoes with the broken seam and gave me the new pair for free. They have my business as long as I wear shoes.

I used to buy all my clothes there, years ago. I have never had any problems with them either, to think of it. Canadian Tire in lloyd is just the opposite, customer service is terrible.

I am somewhat disappointed in mine. If you walk on any type of fine sand it really plugs the area around the cleats. Also once it reaches minus 20 the cleats will not come out. A good gimmick for weather just below freezing!

Oh, that sucks. Well I am within the 100 day satisfaction guarantee, if mine do that they will be going back in the box and to town for a refund.
Mind you I will likely be extending them when I get out of a warm vehicle, I shouldn't have that problem but I appreciate the reply

soles with traction compounds - like winter tires.
Marks sells a couple ankle-high light duty boots (not CSA) that have traction compounds molded into the sole.
The Caterpillar branded ones kept me right side up through last winter, due to the soft compounds in the Vibram sole. The other make has brass shavings cast into the sole.

Well I am waiting for a pair of warranty boots, one of the cleats extends but will not retract. Too bad, such a great concept. At least they give you a hundred days to find out problems.

These sound pretty cool, and I always appreciate a good pair of boots, but you really can't beat those safety cleat straps that you just slip on your boot and they can just rotate to on top of your boot when your indoors or don't need them, also they can go on any pair of footwear that you have.

Those aren't the same ones I have, but similar. they are awesome, and I've used them on 4 different pairs of boots depending on the situation. (jobsites to walking the dog)

Agreed. Cheap and easy, slip them on when walking the pooch. Mail lady uses them too.

I work in a large refinery year round. Spent a lot of money over the years in Marks on work wear, boots, play clothes and sunday-go-to-meeting stuff. Their customer service to refinery workers is getting well known here as flat out crappy. Many, many here refuse to spend another cent in that store, myself included. I don't even allow my family to buy me clothing gifts from there.
I now buy boots on-line from bootsbootsbootsdotca or from local otherwise.

If you want serious traction, try the kahtoola microspikes.

Those cleats work very well. We use them at work all winter.
