This is what we did when my son was young. Being a 6 yr old Mountain man, his first choice for our Sheltie pup was swamp. I said no. He said mud. I said no. He let out a big sigh, then spit our Muskeg as his final choice. I said how about Muskie? Sealed the deal. I can’t even count the adventures they had together.

If it’s going to be your sons present then I’d let him pick the name, who knows what he might pick but he will be super happy with it I’m sure. My parents got my sister a rabbit back in the day and let her pick, fluffy it was haha.
