Default James by Bearberry -Report

Fished the James River north of Bearberry on Sunday for about an hour. Water was clear and warm. Caught two browns on stimulators and had another 7 rises. Figured I would share some info.

Nice! Never fished but always thought it could be productive. The report is appreciated.

Any size to the browns?

I fish that area quite a bit, biggest brown I've ever caught there is maybe 18 inches. I normally catch some fish out of the james but it's not the best fishery around, a lot of pressure, limited wintering holes, frequent blowouts from flooding limit its potential. An excessive number of quads driving around Within the riverbanks and the river don't help things either

The biggest one I got was 9 inches. Not big by any stretch, but I was in the area dropping my son off at camp so I figured I would take the opportunity.

I did see a lot of RMW in the bottom of the deeper pools by the bridge. Decent sized based on my limited exposure to them.

Hit it up again when I picked up my son. 6 fish in 1.5 hours. 4 brown and 2 brook. Got my first brook on the fly (pictured below). Just have bull and golden left to have all the trout in AB on the fly.
