A foot and a half to the left would an issue. Not an inch and a half.

Just curious what projectile you used out of your 7mm for the shot?

7mm should have been fine. dropped a bull this year with a 150gr fusion out of a 7wsm. I would look to the birds for help. if it was a liver hit he is down somewhere.

Here's the final verdict. I went back this afternoon and retraced the bullet path and discovered that it travelled through a 5" poplar about 1/2 way. This tree was hunched over across the cut line. This could account for everything. I think the bullet may have fragmented and didn't cause as much damage as it should. In addition to this, I also discovered that total distance was 210 yards.

I'm guessing that its' should is peppered with led shards.

I can't say I didn't try... But I wish now I would have never shot! At least I know that bush like the back of my hand!

Thanks for the pms and support.

Default No recovery

Well imo if I waited many years for a moose I would have waited plenty of time for it to expire before I went to recover it if I did not see it hit the ground. You made a critical error so learn from that and hope for better luck next time. Cheers

Sorry to hear you didn't find it. Doesn't much matter what you're shooting when you hit a tree before you hit your target, it can happen to the best of us.....

Trees, twigs, grass, it's all bad when it comes to bullets!
Sorry for the lousy deflection, sometimes you can't see that stuff even with an optical sighting instrument!

At 150 yards, even if your gun was 1.5" left, you would have put that bullet through the vitals. Its not your gun....

Came back to get an update and it appears it wasn't a happy ending ... sad.
