Default Muley habits???

All the deer on my muley spot vanished when season opened, so tonight I sat on a half quarter to the north where I have permission, but haven't been in yet. Found 2 nice spots where they are feeding, prime time I have a big old bull come out and eats 30 yards in front of me. At one point he looks into the bush and just busts it 100mph through the swamp. Shortly after, I watch one two three....eight mulies come out! Not one buck in the group, I had multiple deer at 5 yards at one point, they were definitely keyed up but stayed a good 30 mins and were still there when I crawled out under the cover of the combine noise. I couldn't believe there wasn't one buck in the group???

Not in Rut yet. Most of the good Bucks are still in bachelor groups.

Try again in November.

Been out 3 times over the last 2 weeks. Counted 14 deer, no bucks. Gonna try rattling and calling near a scrape tonight.

I saw MD buck eyeing up does down around Medicine Hat this week. Rubs are popping up all over the place too.

Until the rut is full on Muley bucks tend to be in groups, this time

And the big Muley Buck you may have been watching for several months can be many , many miles away over night when his instinct to rut takes over his senses ,,,

Default Well that was interesting...

1 light rattle sequence at 530, next one just after 6. Shortly after I had 7 muley does and a wt buck come in. Got some good footage as I had a 2 minute stare down with a doe at 15 yards.

Doe encounters every time out, tonight I bumped a giant buck while walking out. He was eating in the field off the RR right where I park my truck

I have so many buddies that put out cameras and complain because they have no bucks on their cameras, just tons of does.
I tell them the same thing Crown, its only a matter of time and all the boys will show up to the party

My experience is that mules charge into a grunt. Rattling I save for whitetails.

Ya I rattle in mulies.....DOES, not bucks....haha. The does in my spot are so curious it's annoying. Sat the spot this morn where I had the buck encounter the other night, 3 does in there, if I wasn't looking for horns another would have had her death wish come true..

Default Muley's drive me nuts

Walk out to spot this aft, a shooter and 4 does standing in the field and they're on to me. I skirt around and follow their trail, a short time later I bump the big 4x4 bedded at 80yds, get him as close as 73 and that was it. I walk back to the feeding area and let out a couple grunts about 30 mins later. Next thing i know I have a fork horn and a big 4x4 right behind the willow patch I'm in. Fork horn snorts at me and buggers off, the shooter looks like he's gonna come out and never does. The fork horn then pops out into the green space about 60yds away and we toy with each other for a while, i had him at 5 yards for well over 2 minutes, it was quite amusing. I then chose to walk to the end of the quarter where both bucks headed. I find my 2 target bucks dogging does for a good hour in the middle of the field, they wouldn't even lift their head from the ground. Doe you think the does would just walk in my direction....NO WAY

Went back in the other afternoon and sat on a well used trail, had planned to wait til dark. Ended up moving because my knee hurt so bad I couldn't sit/kneel anymore. Walked around for awhile and stopped 3 does, figured the whole herd would be in that same bush but nothin else appeared. Walked out and rounded a corner to see a big buck stand up and walk out of my life. He was laying right where I had initially set up.

Just brought kid #3 home on Wednesday, I'm hoping I cross paths with one of my target mulies or a random whitetail during one of my 2 hr hunts this weekend.
