Before noon is before noon regardless of the reason you are carrying the firearm.

Review the definition of hunting, and see how scouting fits in.

You can NEVER carry a "loaded firearm" on or in a vehicle, especially year round....where do you get that notion from?

Not talking about being in or on a vehicle, pretty sure you are not in danger of these animals while in or on a vehicle!!

With the amount of guys I've seen bombing around on quads with rifles before noon during deer season,I'd say your in no danger of getting caught anyhow,lol.....or at least the guys I've seen don't seem too concerned about it?

A wildlife officer called me back this afternoon and he quoted the regulations. When I queried him on an individual who is not a hunter, does not hold a hunting licence or tags etc. He stated that it is the law but would be up to his discretion. In my situation His concern was how many people would use checking cams or scouting as an excuse.... The thing that struck me as odd is that he inferred that the purpose of that regulation is to limit the number of people in the bush not as a courtesy to the people hunting on foot. Which is what I assumed the law was for.

Anyways thanks everyone for your input. I am not sure what I will do ..... maybe case and lock it for a hike in the afternoon. but leaving the firearm behind is probably the best idea

You'll never get a yes or no answer it's like any law or regulation or code...that's technical writing for ya, also no one wants to be held accountable for giving direction it's always a suggestion or referral to something else like referral back to the regulations.

I can't believe this;
I was checking on my cameras today up in Hunter Valley and noticed the CTV news car, didn't make much of it , I had my long barrel with me, loaded while in the woods,(thanks for all the comments to my post re Hunter safety while scouting ), then was watching the news tonight to learn about the two guys who got attacked, I am hoping the guys are going to be ok.
They were attacked not far from my buddies and I favorite camp spot when we go quadding, I am going to carry my loaded rifle with me along the bear spray with me every single time I step beyond the tree line from now on.
Be safe out there guys
