Road trip to Vancouver with family

I'm traveling to Vancouver this friday with the family, I got three kids 7, 3 and 6 months so making it a two day trip. I was just wondering if anyone has made the trip recently. How are the construction delays? I have made the trip many times but without kids so I always drove straight through. I will probably head through Jasper and look to spend the night in Valemont but I am also considering going through Revelstoke. ANy thoughts or suggestion on routes would help

Jasper is shorter distance, less traffic and less risk of traffic accidents. Sometimes we stay at a hotel in clearwater.
