When the biggest hog in confederation is firmly standing with all 4 feet in the equalization trough, how do you negotiate with it.

You sure don't whisper sweetly in its ear and promise more $$ slop and build it a bigger trough. And you definitely don't agree to implement its concept of fairness and environmental issues.

Think about why hydro Quebec would like tougher environmental condition/costs on Alberta's main industry- energy.....in the form of oil not electricity. Do you think there is a carbon tax on electricity for the areas they flooded and the enviro damage? And why do you think one of the first things the NDP announced was the end of coal fired electricity generation. This action was bought by Quebec through the federal NDP party campaign fund.

The way a real Albertan (and not a traitorous NDP snake) would deal with that Quebec hog would be to take steps to end equalization and refuse to fill the trough.

Kick out all the quebec born and raised piglets feeding here in Alberta, with the exact reason why they are no longer needed and why they no longer have jobs. I am sure they can figure it out ..."If we cant sell oil, there's no work needed." Quebec already does a form of this with their restrictions on trades and provincial registration that is required.

And a dirty oil covered shovel over the head a few times for good measure.

Only when they understand that beggars and pigs in troughs don't run the show, will we be able to negotiate on a reasonable basis.......anybody ever sit down and negotiate with a pig??? When your paying the tab do you let the freeloader determine the tip and venue? Or do you tell them to shut their X mouth and be happy they are along for a free ride?

I dont think Brad will gain much pipeline traction with the equalization payment comment he stabbed into Quebec. The comment was awesome but it isnt going to help our case in the west lol.

What i am curious about is where the is Harper in all this energy strategy stuff? There is federal jurisdiction and power to implement projects of national importance. Is his popularity more important than ramming something important through?lol, from what i have read the feds can ram thigs through when it comes to major transportation projects and shipways etc

On this pipeline concept....

Seems that both BC and Quebec want to extort Alberta for this.
Its all about getting more money from Alberta.
But they never stop and think about how much benefit the oil industry is doing for them in giving their kids jobs, the services we buy from their industries, the pipe and metal we buy from their foundries and so on.

And the money we put into federal pockets in income taxes and corporate taxes.....the money that allows equalization payments in the first place.......if every province was in the poor house, I guess that would quickly end equalization payments???

So why do we need to go west or east?

Can we not say screw you....and go straight south?
And we are one step closer to saying screw you to the federal equalization SCHEME.
