Default 358 Shooting Times Alaska

does any one know if there is a factory rifle chambered in this? was there ever or did you need a smith to build you one? any info would be great. see it in my reloading book but can only find limited info on the web and very little about the rifles in that caliber.

It is actually called a .358 Shooting Times Alaskan but I am unaware of any mainstream manufacturers that offered this calber. It seems the 7mm was the only one of the Shooting Times calibers that really gained public acceptance. A-Square hold the proprietary rights to the .358 now.

Yep, The most popular load for it was a 250 grain pill and the performance and recoil were very comparable to the 375 H&H. Which is probably a better choice just for availability of ammo.
I've never understood the facination the .35 cal holds for so many.

Hey 209.....I was looking on the web and saw ammo for the .358 available for $6.75 a cartridge which I thought was outrageous but then I remembered that trip to Wholesale in Edmonton when you were going to pick up that box of .416 ammo...what was it....$178 for 20???

Did a little searching (wanted to compare this .358 STAlaskan to the .35 whelen) and found an interesting site and source of ammo. wwwqual-cart.com QUALITY CARTRIDGES is the site.
