Default Centerfire vs rimfire

What are the benefits or disadvantages between these types of rounds? I know how they work, but why would 1 choose one over the other

Rimfire is typically cheaper, and more or less considered an entry level round.
Performance is for the most part less than a centerfire cartridge.
Think .22 Rimfire, or .17HMR.
Actions are simply built, because the lock up doesnt have to withstand high pressures.

Centerfire cartridges operate at higher presures, give increased performance over most Rimfires.
Centerfire is also put in more robust actions, because of the increased pressures.
Centerfire is for the most part reloadeable too.
