Default Trigger Adjustment - Browning A Bolt

Hey guys,

I wanted to soften upmy trigger pull on my 270WSM. It s a Browning A Bolt. Is it as easy as the instructions say? Remove trigger gaurd and turn set screw clockwise?

I just to do not want to create any problems! AsI have not done this . Also I was wondering if anyone has bought the aftermarket spring kit for this gun? I find the factory settings a little stiff - would like it set so that I can squeeze evenly. Right now I find that the pressure necasarry is almost to the point of distraction.

Thanks

I couldnt adjust the trigger down far enough on its own so I bought the spring kit from Brownells and installed the lightest one. It helped the pull weight but the trigger still has a bit of creep. On hindsight I should have just taken it to a good gun smith and got him to work on it. He probably would have got the trigger weight down and cleaned up the creep all in one shot.

A competent gunsmith is the way to go. Most manufactures advertise their trigger is adjustable from say 3 to 5 pounds. What they don't say is that it comes at its lowest setting most times and playing with it won't change much.

I not sure but I would think it would be counter clockwise to lighten.

Buy an aftermarket spring kit.

Some names to use are:
Rifle Basix
Timney

I own 2 abolts and I bought the Timney spring kit.

All I have to say about it is good things except for the shipping was overpriced.

I bought one kit and ended up using the heavier of the 2 springs for my first rifle. I felt the light spring was too light but it still broke at 2.5-3 lbs.

I ended up making a trading post and traded my light spring for another of the heavy springs thats came in the kit.

I now have 2 abolts with absoluletly wonderful triggers. To be honest, I have never shot a rifle with an entire after market trigger assembly but spring kits in my opinion, work wonders on an already great, but admittitedly so (factory rifles in general) heavy trigger.

On a side note, one rifle with a horrible factory trigger that I have shot was is the weatherby vanguard. The new ones though, I guess 2011 models perhaps have an "advertised" match quality trigger which I'm sure is an improvement over the previous ones which had tons of creep.
