Billy Leadbeater
also has high quality chessies
leadbeaterbill@yahoo.ca
the only two breeders I would buy from in Canada
Jeany Bylo
bylofarms.com
but her dogs are not ckc registered nor do they come wth shots or vet checks

no she has chessie bitches as well mr wildside
I have been there seen them
drove 350 miles to see a liter of pups when I arrived and found out no vet checks or papers I was extremely disappointed because of that
but her chessie females are nice looking dogs so is her chessie male
just not registered
there for cannot be shown in any class or competed with
in any hunt test programs
as far as I'm concerned I put that breeder up to warn people not purchase from her

I currently have a very nice male with a stacked pedigree for field dogs and he was bred to a very nice female to what we thought was an outstanding outcross;however, the female had ten puppies in which they perished due to the fact that she could not give birth on her own, too bad because I was to take one and it was like an excellent breeding. I think the owner of the female is going to try again.
I would try Brian at Westpeake first and then Mario Beauregard at Nordais kennels in Quebec. Good luck!

I too have dealt with bylo first hand. I required photos from her of the parents before i went to saskatchewan to view them. She sent me a photo of her only female at the time which was very clearly a chocolate lab. That female was allowed to be bred well before she should have been bred and not to mention was being allowed to be courted by her only male while she was still weaning her current litter. No respectable breeder breeds one female that many times, at that young of age, let alone markets a chocolate lab as a chesapeake.
OP if you want a papered chesapeake there is an outfit down by sylvan lake that sells great dogs. Your best bet for top quality chesapeake is out of the states however. If you want an unpapered dog there a few good guys in and around regina

In Vernon, BC.We got Gunnar from him a year ago, and couldn't be happier.
Not only is Dave a dog breeder, he's a hunter. And so knows his stuff.
And his Chessies are exactly as Chessies are reputed to be; brilliant dogs.
Dave's a great guy, very knowledgeable and supportive.
Good luck!

And.....whats wrong with that? Our dogs parents were both field and show champions.

If youre looking for as close to a sure thing hunting dog show lines should be the last option you go with with any breed. Id sooner take my chances with a mixed breed

Because of the chance of inbreeding? She had the sire flown in from a kennel in Oregon to prevent that if that's what you're thinking.

Because the 'hunt' is often bred right out of the breed when being bred for the show table. Mallardsway wouldn't even sell to myself and my brother in law when we first went looking for our chessies after we told them we were working our dogs

I beg to differ Wildside....
Two Mallardsway Chessies in action. Pocket is 10 and still in amazing shape and a hunting machine. We lost Dozer this year at just under 9 to a brain tumour - he was a Mallardsway-Westpeak combo breeding.

Oh I forgot to mention that they also had their NAHRA started retriever titles, and CKC jr hunt titles. That was only 2 summers of testing before we didn't have time for the testing circuit and started our family.

Another vote of confidence for Westpeake, been getting Chessies from Brian since 1985 - great hunters, great companions.
