Talking New to Bowhunting, want to start with Rabbits

Unfortunately they seem to be in thin supply at McLean Creek.

Being new to Calgary, I am wondering what is the best way to go about getting permission to hunt on land, or conversely, are there better areas to find rabbits?

Other than the rabbits here in the city, I haven't seen anything but tracks in the bush.

I'm not looking to rip up anybody's favourite spot, I am respectful and can keep a secret (you can PM me), but with the lack of friends here my options are limited to asking on forums and hoping for a break lol.

Thanks everyone

See lots, finally shot one this year. They are delicious!! Thick brushy coulees wth lots of wild raspberry and wild rose in them, preferably with a trail to walk on so you make less noise. The reason you don't see them in the bush, is there are more predators in the bush. So the rabbits are much better at avoiding detection.

Around Nov 1 they turn white. If there's no snow, it's a lot easier. Or if you get a real strong chinook that clears up the snow. If there is snow...as speckle says, you have to look for the eye. It takes practice. Look for tracks and sticks with the bark chewed off.

Search speckle's rabbit threads, lots of good info. Use a judo point or small game head. Field points and broadheads will go straight through and result in lost arrows.

Thank you for the reply, I can't seem to find any of his threads but I'd be interested in reading them if you can point me in the right direction.

Where did you get your rabbit?

And yes, I do have judo points, and did the looking for eyes thing. I'm getting a little bummed because I simply do not know anyone, and therefore opportunities to hunt new places are hard to come by.
