Air Arms TX-200 .22cal Under-Lever

Way back in July, I stopped at Air Gun Source, Peterborough Ontario, and picked up this Air Arms TX-200, .22cal Under-Lever air rifle, Walnut stock.

I finally had time to get the rings installed, I lapped the rings, mounted the scope and got it sighted in.
Probably the nicest lapping job I've ever done on a set of rings, which may be a credit to the quality and alignment of these rings.

What a beautiful air rifle. The wood is amazing, the only rifle I own that is on par is a Miroku Winchester M1886 Deluxe.
Air Arms builds amazing air rifles. The fit and finish is flawless in every detail.

The rifle is heavy, 9lbs+, which helps to make it smooth shooting.

I had a backyard sight-in session, which went okay, but I've got to do some more shooting to be sure that I've got him dialed in.

The only disappointment I had was that my old Shooting Chrony failed to register a single velocity. I'm definitely in the market for a new Garmin Xero® C1 Pro, Compact Chronograph!

I have the same rifle, but with the Beech stock. Mine really likes the JSB 15.89gr pellets, which produce about 640fps. It works very well on crows, magpies, pigeons and ground squirrels.

I have those exact same pellets, JSB Match Diablo 15.89grs.

The TX-200 is an awesome air rifle. If you want to tinker with it there are many tuning kit variants available for them that have upgraded parts to make it shoot smoother and help tame the recoil cycle for easier shooting. Tons of info on forums and youtube.

In regards to the chrony, getting some LED puck lights and putting them in the middle of the diffusers really helps. Due to the small projectile and not great light you can get a lot of errors which the puck light solves. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B082LNFTTL



If you don't have experience with springers, they can be hold sensitive. A lot of them don't perform well on rests since they interfere with the back and forwards recoil that they have. Basically the spring pushes the piston forwards causing backwards recoil, and if there is any catching inside the rifle due to rough springs etc it can also twist slightly, then when the piston hits the front of the compression tube it shoves the rifle forwards. If you find you aren't getting good accuracy try shooting without the rest, using light to medium pressure to hold the stock into your shoulder and either an open palm on the front or very light finger pressure. You also usually want fairly light facial pressure when aiming.

If you really hold it tight and pull it back into your shoulder like a normal rifle you interfere with the recoil cycle causing it to act differently every shot when recoiling and causing the pellet to exit the barrel in a different position every time which can lead to really bad accuracy.

They’re very nice springers, I’ve got one in .177. I’ve recently installed a tinbum tuning 12 ft/lbs kit again to see if I can shrink my groups. They’re super easy to disassemble without specialized tools unlike most other springers
