Exclamation New Netflix Scam

New to me anyway.

Received a legitimate email from Netflix an hour ago to "Complete your password reset request".
Checked the outgoing email address and it was all legit. Thought maybe my wife had tried to log in and couldn't remember the password or something?

That email was followed up within a couple of minutes by another one. This one said "Your Netflix payment was declined".
That was highly unlikely so I looked a lot more closely at this one and sure enough, if you were to click the link this one is directed to a big long email ending with 'updts.com'.
Some of it is copied and pasted right from what I assume is an actual payment declined email, but if you read it closely there are the usual slight gramatical errors in a couple of lines. Overall though, it is one of the better scams I have seen.
Can't take anything for granted nowadays. If it seems even slightly odd, it's probably a scam.

Yes, you have to watch
I got something from Telus yesterday or it looked like Telus, Said my Feb bill wasn't paid and I could hit the Pay Here. My bills are all paid so I sent it to abuse@telus.com, It was a phishing scam

I had a similar one recently "Your Telus Payment was declined. Click hear to update your info". Probably the same scammers.

If you look at where it is from? If it is netflix, it will say NETFLIX on the E-Mail otherwise it is a scam. I get about 10 a day, and they are scams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only email links I click on are when I sign up for a forum or such and get a "click this link to confirm your signup".
Otherwise I treat them all as potential scams and go right to the link in my bookmarks where I normally go to the site from, sign in and check if there's any messages there.
Hell, I'm still waiting for the police to come arrest me because I apparently have an arrest warrant out for me from Revenue Canada according to the recorded message that phoned me last Thursday.

Cool Trust no one.

Simple lesson about phone calls, text and e-mail inquiries: if you did not initiate it, it is a scam. Period.
If you initiated an inquiry, it may still be a scam. Never, repeat Never, use a provided link or contact phone number to contact any provider. Use your own sign-in address, or contact phone number, or general website page to follow up on your inquiry with a provider.
No exceptions, ever.

I got the one that my Netflix payment method had expired. Too bad I don't have a Netflix account.
