Thats pretty common with whitetails, top side of the tail can be anywhere from brown body color to black.

Was the camera facing south? - Cancel
Just looked at picture #2 again on April 17 at 4 pm
Sun is from the right so it is south.
I had noticed all the moss on the base of the trees - north side.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed them as much as me. I love trail cameras for this reason. Reminds me of bowhunting in a stand watching the forest come to life as the sun rises. Come on hunting season! People go away for there vacations, I save mine for hunting!
