Default Motor guide issue

I have the Motor Guide SI3 on my small boat and the cruise is acting up. If I set it and want to make even a small direction change it will sometimes make a complete 360 So I have to shut the system down and re-start on manual

Very frustrating to say the least.

Any idea's?

May just need a gps recalibration- had issues with mine not tracking on the heading I was pointing. Recalibrated wiggly on the water and that took care of it.

Welcome to MotorGuide ownership. That pales in comparison to the antics of my Xi5 last weekend. Want to control the boat with the remote? Nope. Want to turn or vary the speed from the HDS-16 via the gateway? Maybe once in ten tries and shake the magic 8 ball to determine what sort of adjustment you'll get. Heading lock? Be prepared to watch it corkscrew itself and wrap the cord so tight you need to stop everything and go pull the motor to untangle it. It can't do the simplest function. But ask it to head over to a waypoint and anchor on it....probably the most complicated thing you can ask it to do...and it does it with a smile.

Honestly, now that Lowrance finally came to their senses and released the Recon with a 72" shaft I'll definitely be upgrading this winter.

I caught with my xi5 for years. Some times it worked through my Lowrance but always had issues. I had Lowrance and motorguide on speed dial. Bought a Lowrance ghost and never looked back
