Default Drunk driving Crown Prosecutor fined and suspended from driving for a year.

Have fun with this one guys.

http://edmontonjournal.com/news/crim...ing-for-a-year.

Here we have a mature (age wise )presumably well educated person drinking and driving and whom gets arrested and charged.

And a Crown Prosecutor at that, who by all accounts, should know the law inside and out,
One would think.

A $1500 fine and a year of suspended driving.

We all know the dangers of drinking and driving.
This isn't something that materialized over night,
It's a decades long problem, that doesn't seem to be going away.

The penalty should be harder on this and other persons.

But that doesn't solve the problem.

Because here is someone who should know better.

Big azz question mark.

Why bother?

Why bother with the anti drinking and driving campaigns and the distracted driving campaigns?
Some people just won't learn

You can't fix stupid.

If it's not this lawyer it's someone else.

It's an uphill battle.

It's not the act itself we're fighting against, it's the self righteousness of the person who thinks in their own head,
" I can do this "

Thankfully he didn't kill anyone.

Why single this fellow out for drinking and driving? Every single profession has members who get charged with impaired driving, including judges and police officers.

Yes he should know better, but so should every adult, regardless of their profession.

People are more than willing to take the chance because it is so rare for anyone to get caught.

Let's not forget the former Premier of BC, while we're at it. Penalties are way too light for impaired driving in North America. Serious loss of driving privileges would go a long ways.

Does not matter what profession people are in, it matters that wankers are in all professions and the penalties for drinking and driving should be one for all equally.

Sister had 2 year suspended license and 3500 fine and had a blow box for one year after suspension was over. Blow box was 7$ a day. This was her second offence. Now her insurance is ridiculous but her own fault

Perhaps because the crown prosecutor is the person that makes his living charging other people with impaired driving. That makes him not only an impaired driver, but also a huge hypocrite. As for the police and judges that are charged with impaired driving, that also applies to them.

The only part of this whole incident that matters to me besides nobody getting hurt is that the individual got treated like everybody else. I have often wondered how many times things like this get swept under the rug for police, prosecutors etc.

Now this is noteworthy. I do believe that Judges, Crowns and Cops are human but
they should be held to a standard that is beyond the average joe in these cases. But on a societal scale, not with sentencing and such because that would be in opposition of what our system is justly built for.

My question is why is it news? Because some dummy with a laptop can spin it real easy and even dummer people scramble to read such tripe. It's about sales not information.
