Default Jasper refugees wanting to Fly fish Grande Prairie

Hey guys and girls, me and my misses are Jasper refugees from the massive wildfire that has swept through our town, we are going to be in Grande Prairie for at least a few days starting tomorrow and could use a distraction from all the chaos. We were hoping to find a river or small stream to fish in and hopefully catch some small trout or grayling. I've heard the smoky is not bad but it would be nice to have some more info, i.e access points maybe names of some other creeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe everyone and tight lines

Sorry to hear about your being evacuated. What did you guys do in Jasper and any word of how your home made out? Where are you all situated in GP and do you have the equipment to access remote reaches of the Smokey, Wapiti and other more remote creeks and rivers.

Hi Taylor, I'm so sorry that your parents have lost their home, and maybe you have, too. I hope they are doing okay. Unfortunately, I lost everything as well.
Tight lines, brother. Gord T.

Hey Dean! I'm a carpenter in Jasper thankfully our apartment made it through the blaze! Folks weren't so lucky but I guess **** happens and we'll just have rebuild. We're at the Holiday in Express by 104 I believe?? Not sure never been to GP before. I have my wading gear, rods, reels ECT. Got vehicles too, nothing that can do crazy 4x4 but I've taken them on dirt roads before. Also got an inflatable paddle board I fish off to so maybe hit some lakes. Cheers!
